Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 14, 2026
DaycareInsider.com is committed to being transparent about how we collect, use, and protect your information. Please read this policy carefully.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how DaycareInsider.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information about you when you use our Platform. By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you register for or use the Platform, we may collect:
- First name and last initial (used for public display on contributed tips)
- Email address (used for account management and communications)
- Content of tips and other submissions you contribute
- Any information you submit through contact forms or support requests
2.2 Information Collected Automatically (Metadata)
When you access or use the Platform, we automatically collect certain technical and behavioral data, which may include:
- IP address and general geographic location derived therefrom
- Browser type, version, and operating system
- Device type and screen resolution
- Pages visited, time spent on each page, and navigation paths
- Referring URLs and exit pages
- Date and time of access
- Interaction data such as clicks, scrolls, and feature usage patterns
- Session identifiers, cookie values, hashed device identifiers, and similar technical identifiers
This metadata may be associated with your account and may be used for marketing and data monetization purposes as described in Section 4.2.
2.3 Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, and similar tracking technologies to operate and improve the Platform, to deliver relevant communications, and to enable advertising and analytics functions. When required by applicable law, we will present a consent mechanism before setting non-essential cookies. You may also control cookie settings through your browser at any time, though disabling cookies may affect Platform functionality.
3. How Your Information Appears on the Platform
DaycareInsider.com is designed with contributor privacy in mind. The only personally identifying information that appears publicly on the Platform in connection with your contributions is your first name and last initial (e.g., “Sarah M.”). Your full name, email address, and all other account information are never displayed publicly on the Platform.
4. How We Use Your Information
4.1 Platform Operations
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Process and display tip submissions
- Communicate with you about your account or submissions
- Enforce our Terms and Conditions
- Maintain the security and integrity of the Platform
- Improve Platform features and user experience
4.2 Data Monetization and Marketing Use
We do not sell, rent, or disclose information that directly identifies you as an individual (such as your name or email address) to third parties for their independent commercial use.
However, we expressly reserve the right to monetize data derived from collective Platform activity. This includes the right to use, license, or otherwise commercialize:
- Aggregated behavioral data and usage patterns across the Platform
- Audience segments and user persona profiles derived from collective activity
- Platform engagement metrics and analytics
- Technical identifiers such as hashed device IDs, cookie values, and pseudonymous advertising identifiers, shared with third-party advertising and analytics platforms for purposes such as targeted advertising, retargeting, and lookalike audience modeling
- Aggregated statistical insights about Platform usage
This data monetization model is similar to how ad-supported platforms operate: we may derive commercial value from understanding how our user base behaves in aggregate, and from enabling advertisers to reach relevant audiences, without disclosing who you are as an individual.
We may share the above categories of data with advertising platforms, analytics providers, data brokers, and marketing partners. Any such sharing is subject to contractual data use restrictions. Where required by applicable law, we will provide you with the ability to opt out of certain uses of your data for advertising purposes.
4.3 Communications
We may use your email address to send you transactional communications (account confirmations, tip approval notices) and, with your consent, promotional communications about the Platform. You may opt out of promotional emails at any time using the unsubscribe mechanism in those emails.
5. Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell information that directly identifies you as an individual. We may share information in the following circumstances:
5.1 Service Providers
We may share your information with trusted third-party vendors and service providers who assist us in operating the Platform, including hosting providers, analytics services, email delivery services, and advertising platforms. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only as directed by us and in accordance with this Policy.
5.2 Aggregated, De-identified, and Pseudonymous Data
We may share aggregated, de-identified, or pseudonymous data — including the metadata and technical identifiers described in Section 4.2 — with partners, advertisers, data brokers, or the public for commercial, marketing, or research purposes. This is a core part of how the Platform may be monetized over time.
5.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of DaycareInsider.com, our users, or others.
5.4 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or other business transfer, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice of such transfer and any material changes to this Policy.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with the Platform’s services. We retain metadata and technical identifiers for a period reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy, including marketing and analytical purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see Section 8). Deletion of personal data will not affect metadata or aggregated data that has already been processed, de-identified, or shared with third parties.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission, access controls, and audit logging. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7.1 Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law, including the North Carolina Identity Theft Protection Act (N.C.G.S. § 75-65), which requires notification without unreasonable delay. Notification will be provided via the email address associated with your account, or by other means required or permitted by law.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:
- The right to access the personal information we hold about you
- The right to request correction of inaccurate personal information
- The right to request deletion of your account and personal data
- The right to opt out of marketing communications
- The right to opt out of certain uses of your data for targeted advertising, where required by applicable law
- The right to data portability, where applicable
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@daycareinsider.com. We will respond to your request within 45 days. We may extend this period by an additional 45 days where necessary, in which case we will notify you of the extension within the initial 45-day period. Please note that deletion of personal data will not affect metadata that has already been aggregated, de-identified, or shared with third parties prior to your request.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Platform is intended for use by adults only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a minor, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
10. Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information to them.
11. Prohibition on Scraping and AI Use of Data
As stated in our Terms and Conditions, the scraping, automated extraction, or use of any Platform data — including content, tips, metadata, or any other information — for the purpose of training artificial intelligence or machine learning models, or for any commercial data aggregation or redistribution purpose, is strictly prohibited. This prohibition applies to all users and third parties regardless of the technical method used.
12. State Privacy Rights
12.1 California Residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) may provide you with additional rights. Please note the following:
- We do not sell information that directly identifies you as an individual for monetary consideration.
- We may share pseudonymous identifiers and technical data with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes as described in Section 4.2. California residents have the right to opt out of this sharing by contacting us at privacy@daycareinsider.com with the subject line “CA Opt-Out Request.”
- You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and share.
- You have the right to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
- You have the right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- You have the right to non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA rights.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any applicable privacy rights.
12.2 Other States
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and other states with comprehensive privacy legislation may have similar rights under their respective state laws. Please contact us at privacy@daycareinsider.com to learn more about your rights and how to exercise them.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document and, where practicable, by email notification. Your continued use of the Platform after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
